Paying for a Roof
A roof is one of the largest single repairs a house ever needs, and it rarely arrives at a convenient moment. Here are the honest options.
The median home in Ottawa County is worth about $123,300 and the median household here earns about $49,947. A roof is a serious number against those figures, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
If a storm caused the damage
Your homeowners policy is usually the first place to look. We will inspect for free and document what we find, and that documentation is what a claim rests on. What we will not do is promise you an outcome, take an assignment of your benefits, or offer to cover your deductible — all three are either unlawful in Oklahoma or impossible to keep. Read the insurance claims page for exactly where the line sits.
If the roof is simply old
Wear and age are not covered by insurance anywhere, so this comes out of pocket. Sometimes the honest answer is that a targeted repair buys you two or three more years for a fraction of the cost, and that is a legitimate plan — not a failure. We would rather tell you that than sell you a replacement today.
On financing
Ask us about the options available for your project when we come out. We are not going to advertise a monthly payment figure on a website, because the honest number depends on the scope, the material, and terms we cannot know before we have looked at your roof. Anyone quoting you a payment before they have seen the roof is quoting you a marketing number.
Questions worth asking about any roofing finance offer
- What is the total cost over the full term, not the monthly payment?
- Is there a prepayment penalty?
- Is the promotional rate deferred interest? What happens if it is not cleared in time?
- Does the contractor get paid regardless of whether the work passes?
