Yes. Emergency tarping is one of the first things we do after wind or hail, because a small opening lets water into the decking and insulation quickly. Tarping is temporary protection while the permanent repair is scoped — it is not a repair in itself.

From the ground, look for dents in soft metal like gutters, downspouts and vent caps — those bruise before shingles show it. On the roof itself, hail damage looks like dark bruises and granule loss rather than holes. A roof that "looks fine from the ground" often is not, which is why the inspection is free.

We help with the parts a roofing contractor can lawfully help with: we document the damage with a detailed photo report, give you a written estimate for the work we would perform, and meet your adjuster on site if you ask us to. We are not public adjusters and we do not negotiate or file your claim — your insurer decides coverage under your policy.

It depends on the age of the roof, how widespread the damage is, and whether the decking underneath is still sound. Isolated damage on an otherwise healthy roof is usually a repair. Widespread granule loss, repeated leaks in different places, or damage across most slopes usually points to replacement. We will tell you plainly when a repair is only buying time.

Architectural asphalt shingles are the default for good reasons — cost, availability and repairability. Impact-rated shingles cost more but are built for a hail market. Standing seam metal lasts longest and sheds wind and hail well, which is why it is popular around Grand Lake. Commercial low-slope roofs generally use TPO, EPDM or modified bitumen.

Yes. Ventilation is one of the most commonly under-built parts of an older roof. Northeast Oklahoma sees around 57 days a year above 90°F, and an attic without balanced intake and exhaust cooks the shingles from underneath and shortens the roof’s life.

Oklahoma requires roofing contractors to be registered, and you can check any contractor in about thirty seconds at verifyroofing.cib.ok.gov. Registration also means they carry at least $500,000 in liability coverage for residential work. After a storm, ask anyone who knocks on your door for their registration number — and be wary of anyone offering to cover your deductible, which is unlawful here. If a roofer can’t give you a number, that is your answer.
